Colonial Bicycle Co. Athletes & Teams

Colonial Bicycle Racing

Meet the members of the Colonial Bicycle Racing Team.

We are proud to sponsor these athletes as they travel the east coast and the country representing New England in a variety of racing disciplines. Follow us on Facebook and Instagram to keep up with the team and how they are doing!

Jessie
Jessie started racing bikes as a sophomore at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2007 on their club team, and continued to race road throughout college. After moving to the East Coast in 2010, Jessie fell in love with the rad cyclocross scene of the northeast and began racing more and more cross, gaining her Cat 2 upgrade in 2013 and racing in the elite field. Jessie continues to race road when time allows and will be racing a full cyclocross schedule this year, targeting UCI races in the northeast and around the country. When she's not riding her bike, Jessie enjoys reading, doing crosswords and cheering on the Wisconsin Badgers during football season. Although she professes to overheat too easily to be much use on a bike once the temperature gets over 80 degrees, she's recently moved to Arizona to continue her studies. Find her in some fresh Colonial gear out in the wild west!
Matt
Coming from a BMX background, Cyclocross was an easy transition. Matt quickly progressed through his first season, earning more than a few podium positions in 2014 finishing as a Cat 4. The following season he opened up and snagged a few wins along with numerous podium finishes to once again upgrade his racing category. Now a Cat 2, Matt competes with cyclocross professionals all over New England and beyond. Not only does he race but he helped build the infamous cross pump track at Orchardcross 2016 in Hampton falls. Lookout for Matt at upcoming cyclocross races as well as our team rides from the shop in the summertime!

Clyde
Clyde is an avid cyclist.  He enjoys mountain biking, cyclocross racing and the occasional road ride.  He's also dad to a couple of budding cyclocross racers.  When not riding a bike - he's working on his 3rd enterprise software start-up.
Dave
Dave has been racing bikes at the Cat 2 level since 1993. Career highlights include 4th place at Collegiate Natz TTT for Cornell University, a handful of top 5's in regional Pro, 1, 2 road races, and getting dropped by Tyler Hamilton from a break at the Westfield Road Race (1995). He loves the smooth, agile feel of the Trek Boone - cantilever version, of course. And, he can't say enough good things about the Trek Superfly Hardtail although he's looking forward to reuniting with the latest version of Top Fuel in 2016. During the week, Dave is a pathologist, hunting for cancer cells.
Eric
Eric hails from Yarmouth, ME with a highly decorated sports background. He began at UMaine hockey where he was named NCAA east second-team All-American, going on to play 17 seasons in the NHL, competing in over 1000 games. While he still plays a big role in the NHL, during the summertime he swaps skates for cycling shoes. He races in the 40/50+ Masters as a Cat 2 and is a current member of the Colonial Bicycle Company sponsored Momentum Barracuda Cycling Team. Catch Eric at the local crit, road race, or stage race, he'll be one of the first in the lead group.
Leo
Leo is a local triathlete. Cycling is his favorite event, then swimming (he's with Portsmouth Swim Team), then, well, that leaves running. Leo attends Berwick Academy, where he hopes to join the math team. He's an aspiring cyclocross racer, His other favorites are playing cards, watching Dr. Who, and getting up on stage at New Hampshire Theatre Project.

Rich
Rich is admittedly addicted to bicycles.  He has been dabbling in racing for years (mountain, road, CX, Fat) – and tries to find the balance in life both on and off the bike. He wear many hats; husband; Father of two great kids; software professional; founder of a nonprofit; High School Cycling Coach; Founder of Seacoast VeloKids, and lover of bikes and beer. He is originally from Michigan but has been enjoying living in the Seacoast of NH for about 18 years. He is honored to be associated with such a fantastic team and looks to improving his performance with every race.
Doug
Doug hails from Yarmouth, Maine and has been racing for about five years. He is a self-proclaimed “two-wheeled-aholic”, and says his favorite bike is always the one between his legs, unless he is in the process of building one. He picked up racing a couple years ago and overall just really loves anything to do with bikes, beer, and racing. He feels most at home riding cross country or cyclocross but also dabbles with enduro. Doug hopes to keep improving while still maintaining a high level of fun. Off the bike he keeps the fun level high, by sledding down the 4000 footers of New England most winters.

Roger

Roger lives in Exeter and is a new member of the Colonial team in 2015, After a long and relatively undistinguished focus on running while serving as a Navy officer and raising a family (highlight was a 1:31 half marathon and the Mt. Vesuvius climb), he started cycling by competing in duathlons and hill climbs, with the Wildman as his signature event each year (highlight was a top age group finish).  After transitioning to a focus on trail running, he began dabbling in cross in 2011, and despite even more undistinguished results had the epiphany that CX is the most fun he ever had with a heart rate approaching 200. After sitting out the last two years due to major surgeries, he got back in action in July, and recently competed in Vermont gravel races.  Other than needing to improve on starts, remounts, and technical sections, he is a hard-charging and competent racer who might actually crack a smile while in the pain cave, and his results will improve if he figures out how not to drop a chain while stumbling through the barriers.
